Which Dallas Roofers Pulled The Most Re-Roof Permits?
The 25 most frequent permit holders in the Dallas file, printed as the city records them with the street address and phone removed. A holder that matches a company on our roster by an exact phone number or an exact name links to its profile. A holder that does not is simply a company we have not assessed. This is January 2018 to August 2020 and no later.

How To Read This Data
Dallas. The Building Permits file on Dallas Open Data is a historical file: its own description says it is no longer updated. We loaded 13,305 rows whose work description mentions a roof or shingles, kept the building permits whose description reads as a re-roof, removed solar, rooftop equipment, patios and additions, and de-duplicated on permit number to reach 11,247. The holder is the city's contractor field with the street address, city and phone cut off, so a holder printed here is a name, not a person's home address.
Fort Worth. We loaded 6,455 remodel permits filed since October 9, 2023 that carry the ReRoof category or a roof or shingle work description, and kept 1,329 after the same exclusions. The text filter is a documented heuristic and may miss a few genuine re-roofs, so treat the count as a floor. Because the city does not require a permit for a shingle-only replacement on a one or two-family home, the true number of Fort Worth roofs replaced is higher than any count here.
Neither file is a measure of quality, neither is a ranking input, and neither says anything about work outside the two city limits, where suburbs permit separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which Dallas roofers pulled the most re-roof permits?
- In the City of Dallas open file, which ends August 28, 2020, the holder recorded most often was SCOTT ROOFING with 696 permits, then LON SMITH ROOFING (360) and PRIORITY CONTRACTING (320). This is 2018 to August 2020 only and says nothing about today.
- Is there a current Dallas permit count?
- Not from open data. Dallas Open Data describes its permit file as historical and no longer updated; newer permits are in the city's Accela Citizen Access portal, where we found no bulk export. Nothing on this page implies a current Dallas series.
- Which Fort Worth roofers pull the most permits?
- The Fort Worth file has no contractor field, only the owner, so a contractor ranking cannot be built from it. We publish counts by month and year only.
- How many roofs does Fort Worth permit a year?
- The city received 473 re-roof applications in 2024 and 384 in 2025, 389 so far in 2026 through October 9, 2026. A shingle-only re-roof on a one or two-family home needs no permit, so these counts understate the roofs replaced.
- Can I add the Dallas and Fort Worth counts together?
- No. Dallas counts permits issued, Fort Worth counts applications filed, the two windows do not overlap and the permit rules differ. Each city is reported on its own.
- Why is a roofer I know missing from this index?
- Four common reasons. Its permits are in the Dallas file recorded under a different name, which we only match when a phone number or a name matches exactly. It works in a suburb with its own permit office. Its Dallas work came after August 2020. Or it works in Fort Worth, where the file names no contractor. 12 of the 30 companies we assess did not match, and no match is never a zero.
- Is the permit count a ranking input?
- No. It is informational only, because a count measures volume inside one city in one window, not quality.
- What was the busiest month for re-roof permits?
- In Dallas, August 2019, with 1,116 permits. In Fort Worth, June 2024, with 103 applications.
