Which San Antonio Roofers Pull The Most Re-Roof Permits?

The 25 most frequent permit holders in the 12 months to September 25, 2026, printed exactly as the City records them. Many entries are an individual, the registered contractor's delegate, rather than a company name; we do not guess which company an individual works for. Where the holder is a company on our roster, the name links to its profile.

Roster Companies In The Permit Record

The companies on our ranking that we could match to a City permit holder by name, with their count for the last 12 months and since the record begins. A roster company missing from this table is either based outside the city limits, where it pulls permits from its own city or county, or is recorded under a delegate's name we have not matched. Absence is not a zero.

How To Read This Data

The index counts permits of the City's own type "Re-Roof Permit" and nothing else, so a new roof on new construction is not here and neither is a repair that did not need a permit. Rows are deduplicated on permit number and dated by issue date. The permit holder is the City's PRIMARY CONTACT field, verbatim. In the last 12 months 254 permits carried no holder at all and are counted in the totals but not in the holder table.

This is City of San Antonio data only. Boerne, New Braunfels, Schertz, Helotes and the unincorporated county each permit roofs separately, so a roofer based there can be busy and still absent here. A permit count is a measure of volume inside the city limits, not of quality, and it is not one of the five ranking inputs. We publish it because it is the one public record of roofing work that a company cannot write for itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which San Antonio roofing companies pull the most re-roof permits?
In the 12 months to September 25, 2026, the permit holder recorded most often by the City of San Antonio was Misti White, Rhino Roofers with 327 re-roof permits, followed by Keven Uzun (223) and TRAVIS M JOYCE (171). The full top 25 is in the table above, printed exactly as the City records the holder.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in San Antonio and how much is it?
Yes, inside the San Antonio city limits a roof replacement needs a Re-Roof Permit from the Development Services Department, and the City issued 7,117 of them in 2025 alone. The residential re-roof permit is a flat $25 on the City's FY2026 fee schedule. Our permit guide walks through who pulls it and what the application asks.
How do I know if a San Antonio roofing company is legit?
Check three public records: this permit index (a company that replaces roofs inside the city should appear here under its own name or its registered delegate), its BBB profile for grade and complaint history, and its Google review count and average. Every company on our ranking carries all three with a source link.
How do I look up a roofing permit in San Antonio?
Search the address in the City's BuildSA portal, or download the open dataset linked on this page and filter by address. Ask your contractor for the permit number before the final payment; a permit is a dated public record that the work was filed and inspected.
Does a roofer have to be registered with the City of San Antonio?
The City's re-roof permit application asks for a Registration Holder and a City Registration number, and the FY2026 fee schedule lists a Home Improvement Contractor license registration at $150 for two years. A homeowner may pull the permit personally by attesting to a 12-month occupancy under City Code 10-115(a)(1), and then takes on the inspections.
Why is a roofer I know missing from this index?
Three common reasons. The company is based outside the city limits, in Boerne, New Braunfels or Schertz for example, and pulls permits from that jurisdiction instead. The City recorded the permit under an individual's name, the registered delegate, rather than the company name. Or the homeowner pulled the permit personally. Absence here is not evidence that no permit was pulled.
When is the busiest month for roof replacements in San Antonio?
May 2025, with 903 re-roof permits, is the busiest month in the record. The spring and early summer months after hail season carry the most permits every year; our hail history page shows the storm days behind them.
How much does a roof replacement cost in San Antonio?
The permit is the small part. Our cost page prices the job per roofing square from published local rates, and the calculator turns your footprint, pitch and material into a range. Tear-off and the $25 permit are itemised separately so you can check an estimate line by line.
How often is this index updated?
The City refreshes its open-data file nightly. We rebuild this index monthly from that file, and the date at the top of the page is the date of the newest permit in the data, not the date we ran the build.
