The Full-Record Ranking, By District

The City tags each permit with the council district of the address. Ranked by total re-roof permits since 2020, alongside each district's share of the last 12 months so a reader can see where the ranking held and where it moved. District 0 means an address outside a numbered district, typically an annexed or extraterritorial parcel; see below for the 370 permits tagged to more than one district or to none at all.

Where The Ranking Is Moving

Comparing each district's all-time share with its share of the last 12 months shows which districts are pulling more of the City's re-roof volume recently and which are pulling less. District 7 gained the most, up 4.9 percentage points to 14.3% of the last 12 months from 9.5% all-time. District 0 lost the most, down 5.2 points to 4.1% from 9.3%. This is permit volume only. It does not say why a district moved, and it is not one of the five ranking inputs behind this site's company rankings.

Multi-District And Unrecorded Addresses

370 permits since 2020 (1.3% of the full record) are tagged to more than one council district or carry no district at all in the City's file, most commonly a boundary address the City recorded against two adjoining districts. In the last 12 months that is 41 permits (0.9%). These are counted in the site totals but not attributed to a single numbered district above, because picking one would not be a fact the City's own data states.

How To Read This Page

This is a second view of the same dataset as our permit index, which prints the district breakdown for the last 12 months alongside the most active permit holders, the by-year and by-month counts and open CSV and JSON downloads. This page adds the full-record ranking since 2020 and the change between the two windows. A permit count says a re-roof happened and was filed with the City; it says nothing about which neighborhoods sit inside which district, which this data does not state and we have not guessed at.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which San Antonio council district has the most re-roof permits?
District 10, with 3,478 re-roof permits since 2020, 12.0% of the 28,865 permits the City tagged to a single numbered district. In the last 12 months the busiest is different: District 7, with 664 permits, 14.3% of the last 12 months' total. District 7 ranks 4th all-time, so its recent pace is well ahead of its long-run share.
Which council district changed the most in the last 12 months?
District 7 rose the most: 9.5% of all-time permits versus 14.3% in the last 12 months, a gain of 4.9 percentage points. District 0 fell the most, from 9.3% all-time to 4.1% in the last 12 months. This counts permit volume only; it is not evidence of storm damage, growth or decline in any one district on its own.
What does council district 0 mean in the City of San Antonio permit data?
District 0 in the City's file means the address sits outside a numbered council district, typically an annexed or extraterritorial parcel. It holds 2,695 re-roof permits since 2020, 9.2% of the full record, and 190 in the last 12 months.
Do council districts with more permits have better roofers?
No. A council district's permit count measures how many re-roofs the City recorded there, not the quality of the work or the companies that did it. It is not one of the five inputs behind our ranking; see the permit index for which companies pull the most permits, and our methodology for what we do rank on.
